April 30, 2008 - East Salem Elementary 3rd graders learn about the Food Bank! East_Salem_Elementary_small.jpg

As we've seen time and time again, young children are often times the most generous with their hearts, and the East Salem Elementary students that visited the SWVA Second Harvest Food Bank proved that once again.  60 third graders visited the Food Bank to tour our facility and learn how they could help, but we quickly realized that these kids already knew the first lesson in Food Banking… generosity.  Before their tour, the third grade classes' unloaded boxes laden with food, which they then donated to the hungry of this region. The food they provided will be used to serve more than 600 meals to Southwestern Virginia's hungry men, women, and children.  Thank you East Salem Elementary for your big hearts, and your willingness to help!

If your child's class would like to visit the Food Bank for a tour contact Amy Milberger at (540) 342-3011 x26
