A
Message from James E. Pearman, Jr.
Chairperson, Board
of Directors
Southwestern Virginia Second Harvest Food Bank
During
the history of an organization such as ours, a few critical periods
determine the course of its destiny. The Southwestern Virginia Second
Harvest Food Bank is now – with resolve and foresight —
steering its way through just such a period. We have been challenged
by the necessity to relocate to another facility ... and yet, as
is often the case, within this challenge lies what may be a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity. With the decision to relocate, the Food Bank is taking
bold and innovative steps to define and secure its future for the
benefit of over 350 feeding agencies it assists; and ultimately
those to whom these agencies provide food. Equally important in
terms of boldness and innovation has been the board’s decision
to initiate The Campaign to Change the Face of Hunger,
with a goal of $4.2 million to secure this new building and fund
other programs and services.
The Food Bank hereby reaffirms its commitment to its affiliated
agencies and the people they serve. The Campaign to
Change the Face of Hunger will strengthen our ability
to uphold this charge.
